I have a very special friend who has a very special talent for alternative healing. It is not often that we are blessed with friends who have a gift for making you feel calm and energised at the same time as well as making you feel good about yourself. The kind of friend who will not allow you to beat yourself up about things.
She has three small delightful children and yet she manages to run her business which is called “Rainbow Healing”. She offers aromatherapy, crystal and colour therapy as well as running regular yoga classes for both adults and children. Her Facebook page posts are positive, insightful and interesting.
That friend is Cindy, the owner of this website and I am writing a guest post for her. Hopefully this will be something I do occasionally.
A teeny bit about me: My name is Debbie and I have a blog over at Everyday Delights. Every day, I try to find something extraordinary or special in the world around me. It’s about being present in the now. It’s about looking for the details in the colours, light, sounds, aromas, trying to see things from a fresh or different perspective. About celebrating and enjoying the routines of every day. But I’m human and I don’t always have the energy or the emotional balance to find something special. That’s OK too. My blog is the place where I record what I notice in the world around me.
Back to Cindy...
There is nothing more relaxing than having a crystal or colour therapy treatment in her treatment room. As you walk in you are greeted by a feeling of calm, even though it is awash with bright, energising colours. You immediately feel cocooned in a peaceful energy which makes you want to linger for longer than the treatment lasts. The window overlooks her vegetable garden and the sun pours in. Her crystals are the next thing you notice, displayed beautifully in various shelves. This allows her easy access to them during a treatment. A little cabinet on the wall holds some special items for sale.
A lower shelf holds a interesting selection of books ranging from aromatherapy, through to crystals and acupuncture. Her desk (or working space) is covered with special crystals, angel cards, fairies and other delightful things - giving one the sense that this is a happy and peaceful space to do paperwork and to write up client records.
I know that I could spend hours looking at all her beautiful things. In fact, all she needs in there is a comfy chair and she could rent the room out as a tranquil place to sit for an hour or so!
Although she only lives 40 minutes down the road, I don't see her very often. I used to attend her yoga classes when I lived in Port Alfred and we were very close friends. She is the person who is responsible for ‘introducing’ me to the colour pink through her end of yoga session meditations. Now, I see her maybe once a month at our Red Tent gathering.
I recently visited her for a crystal therapy treatment. This is a favourite treatment for me as it is very gentle and relaxing. She is intuitive and perceptive and her insights are spot on, as always. We chat throughout the treatment. I'm always keen to hear her interpretation of the cards she draws at the end of the treatment. She rounds off the session by reflecting on the things I can do to help myself relax more and cope with the pressures of life. She suggested that I make "the old new" - to try and do things I have done before in a new way. I was reminded of all the things that have disappeared from my life recently - my love for my own crystal collection, my own aromatherapy oils and my own knack for making a space feel relaxing and homely. I came away feeling renewed and energised, as I hoped I would.
I wonder why it is that I do not visit her more often. Why can I not make the time to drive down to the coast (which is refreshing in itself) to see her, to have a cup of tea? In the meantime though, I will take time to make my home a place of refuge and comfort when I need it.
Thank you for this lovely post Deb. It is great to hear how your sessions and the space I create make you feel. Inspires me to keep at this very meaningful work.
