It's funny how when I think back to my childhood a lot of what I remember is feeling different, but trying to fit in.
Like if people knew the real me, they wouldn't like me.
I have many great childhood memories, and with the benefit of hind sight and all the inner work I have done over the years I can see two things clearly which I couldn't see then.
1) The trying to fit in me, who was always well liked was in fact me all along. There were parts I was hiding, but the social, thoughtful girl who tried here best and hated to disappoint, well I still have her.
2) I could never really hide who I was even though I thought I was. My mom found a story I wrote when I was about 9 or 10 I imagine. I am going to share it with you and you will see what I mean.
Leprechaun
One day the Leprechaun leader went on a quest and found 3 bags full of gold.
He was so happy and couldn't wait to put the gold in his pot, but he was old and always forgot where he put it.
He decided to put it at the end of the rainbow which was grey. But he couldn't see it because it was a cloudy day.
He called up a meeting with all the spirits and gods. They all sat down and talked.
"I agree Leprechaun. I think we should make the rainbow red, yellow or orange" said the sun god.
"Well I think it should be indigo or violet" said the garden fairy.
"I think it should be green, because green is the best colour" said Mother nature.
"It should be blue, because there is more of that in the whole world" said king Neptune.
They argued about it for hours. Suddenly the leprechaun had an idea.
"How about we put a little bit of each colour" said the leprechaun?
It was settled there would be a little bit of each colour, and the leprechaun did not loose his pot of gold again.
So there it is, rainbows, gods/goddesses nature spirits and 'mythical' creatures.
I always knew who I was, and now I am living my truth.
Now I am finally unlocking the key to all of the colours, each one with it's shadow and light aspects.
Now I know there is no perfect, only authentic.
I work each day to be authentically me.
Some days it is easier than others.
That's life.
I loved your story about the rainbow and the leprechaun 💚🌈 💚
