Hello and a big welcome to 2019, may the year be filled with all that you need to grow into the best version of you that you can be.
As you know I like to look at the numerological year we are in for our January newsletter.
After the intensity of a master number year (2018 = 11) I hope that this 3 (2+0+1+9 = 12, 1+2 = 3) year delivers the much-needed Fun that it promises to.
3 is a number of communication, creativity, expression and enjoyment so it is a year to paint, write, dance, make music or art in your life in any way shape or form. Don’t just think about getting more creative this year, actually set the time.
If you can’t paint, dance.
If you can’t sing, doodle.
If you can’t write, cook.
There is always a way to play.
Other good 3 energies to know about are; self-care, beauty, travel, sharing, happiness and enjoyment.
This will be a year to live well, with fun, creativity and enjoyment, and blessedly lighter in its lessons than 2018.
You will find it no surprise that my theme this month is
Creative Expression
I feel like this is the key to us embodying the intense lessons of last year.
The truth is if we don’t integrate and embody the lessons, they will just come around again.
And again.
Until we do.
So, by expressing through any number of ways we bring into form both consciously and unconsciously these lessons and begin to integrate the shifts that we need to live our lives in full colour to our greatest potential.
In my Spotlight Advice I will discuss this further, with some tips on how to take the bull by the horns so to speak.
I wanted to give you a quick synopsis on how to figure out what your personal year is and what that may mean for you, within the greater theme of the 3 year.
To work out your personal year (will use myself as an example) you take your birth day and month and the current year 18 06 2019 and add them together 1+8+6+2+0+1+9 =27. Reduce to a single number 2+7 = 9 This means I am in a personal year 9.
Nutshell explanation of numbers 1 – 9
1 – a year for initiating things, uniqueness, independence and individuality. Caution is needed with selfishness and aggression. 1 leads but be a leader others will follow with respect not fear.
2 – a year for co-operation with others, listening, may be hyper sensitive or moody. Maintain your boundaries as this is a very caring supporting energy and if you over extend you can’t help others.
3 – if you are in a 3 personal and collective this energy is doubled. Self-expressive creative year like I already mentioned. Watch not to lose focus, planning and prioritizing are not 3 traits.
4 – is a year of dedicated work, practical, organised and determined forward movement. It may be hard in a 4 year to go with the flow, or to think outside the box.
5 – if you are in a 5 year it is time for freedom and adventure. A year of networking, social expansion and communication. Try to be patient with those who are not as expansive as you and watch yourself for commitment issues.
6 – you are in a responsible care-giving role this year. You may struggle to say no and may want to give more than you receive. It will be a good year to bring family or work colleagues together, healing old hurts.
7 – Big spiritual growth year for you, 7 is the number of the contemplative truth seeker. Try to be open minded, patient and tolerant as the way you see the world is likely to be shifted this year.
8 – the number of the business minded leader. It is a lucky number and a powerful number to bring about abundance and prosperity. Don’t forget to balance the material (8) and the spiritual (7) in your life.
9 – Service oriented this year, you will do well taking up some compassionate humanitarian type project. You will feel generous and have a great desire to leave the world better than you found it. Be mindful of forgiveness this cycle.
The Sun is now in Capricorn Dec 22nd – Jan 19th it is an energy that suddenly slows us down…as with all Earth signs (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn) it is the epitome of embodying energy. I can find Capricorn a bit stifling, like a strict father, but am somewhat relieve when Cap puts my head back on my shoulders after the flurry of year end. Capricorn energy kind of helps me put a put a bow around that gift of the year gone by.
This then leads us into the sign of Aquarius Jan 20th – Feb 19th where having recalibrated we are then ready to expand in our ideas and visions for the new year. These ideas are likely to be many and varied in this creative and fun 3 year.
New Moon this month is on the 6th in the sign of Capricorn. Be mindful of not letting your inner critic be too harsh and aggressive at this time.
Next Red Tent’s;
Port Alfred evening group Monday 7th January.
Grahamstown afternoon group Tuesday 8th January.
Full Moon is on the 21st January in the sign of Leo. A tendency to be loud and flamboyant may be expected. Leo gels well with the 3 energy of pleasure, creativity, joy and expression so live life out loud this full moon.
Crystal picks for January
Crysocolla is a pick this month because it is a super creative stone, but also great for expression and the throat chakra. A definite 3-year choice I feel. This stone is quite soft on the Mohs hardness scale and the vibrant colour is due to a high copper content…this also means you should not drop it in your water bottle if you like to do this as copper is toxic. This means though that it is good to detox our creative blocks.
Carnelian has a strong creative urge, and I feel this stone will let you get messy and expressy. To be creative we can’t be too controlled, so let yourself get dirty, let yourself create flops. It is often not about what you created but more that you were creative. Your journal does not need to become a best seller and your doodles don’t need to be hung on your wall. The act of living is creative in itself and everything we do is a form of expression. Let lose a little, it will be fun.
Angelite as the name suggests is a good crystal for communicating with angels. Using this very gentle (also soft) crystal allow yourself to open up to the guidance of your guardian angel and let that manifest in how you express and create. This is a very calming crystal and very good with children. Helps relive anxiety and improve sleep.
Aromas of the month
Grapefruit is bright and bitter. Fantastic for detox and invigoration. All citrus oils are very creative, light hearted and bubbly in personality. If grapefruit were your friend, she would have a fierce sense of humour, never let you mope around feeling sorry for yourself for long and always be ready for a bit of fun. This girl knows her mind and will help you to express yours.
Basil is the twinkly eyed boy at the beach, a naughty sense of humour that moves so fast you are hard pressed to keep up. Causing your brain to do gymnastics between mind and body. He keeps you on your toes to be sure. Basil is great for digestion, muscles and memory.
Roman Chamomile is a bit of calm when in the company of Grapefruit and Basil. Thankfully calming those two down a little too. She is calmly expressive if a little shy, and she knows when its time to get out of the sun and relax a bit. She is a stop and smell the flowers kinda girl who is good at mellowing out all her friends.
Some blend ideas here would be:
1 drop Basil, 3 drops Grapefruit, 3 drops Roman Chamomile or
1 drop Basil, 2 drops Roman Chamomile, 3 drops Gerainium or
4 drops Grapefruit, 2 drops Roman Chamomile
Remember to write your blends in your blend book so you remember what you liked and what you didn’t.

Spotlight Advice
Creative Expression ideas
Like I mentioned earlier the art of living is creative. I know for many people the mention of the C word is enough to break a sweat!
‘not a creative bone in my body’, ‘I can’t draw’, ‘I am tone deaf’, ‘I have no rhythm’, ‘I have no imagination.’
If statements like this are familiar to you, the first step is to stop making them. Chances are they are not true and if one area of creativity is not for you there are many other avenues.
1 Use Colour: There are many ways to do this, from the clothes you ware, colouring in, finger painting or mosaic to the colour of your food. Colour is used to express mood and personality types too.
2 Move/hum/doodle: This is about not formalising your dance, singing or drawing/painting. Rather than taking an art or dance class (although do if you are keen) just doodle or move to the music while you are driving (safely of course) or cooking. Hum along to the song and belt it out at top volume if alone in your car or with your kids…yes, I do this.
3 Journal: What better way to express yourself than a daily/weekly or whenever you need it journal entry. No judgement just a place to let out whatever is inside of you. You may surprise yourself with the clarity and creativity this can spark.
My point this month is for you to try and let your creative expression start to come out without trying too hard. Allow it to become a natural part of your day if it isn’t already.
