Rainbow Wisdom Newsletter August 2019

Whew, we made it. Hello Rainbow Tribe, I hope at worst this newsletter finds you battered but not broken by those eclipses.

If broken, you are it is my greatest hope that you are using love as the glue you need to repair the damage and make you stronger.

Our theme for the month is

Insight and Inspiration

The theme is inspired by the Sabbat or seasonal gate called Imbolc.

Sabbat wheel of 8

This whole year we have been focusing on these seasonal gates and for those of you who are new to my mailing list you can find the archived newsletters on my website www.rainbowwisdom.co.za

Imbolc, which is also known as Candle mass or Brigid’s Day is the midway point between the Winter Solstice (our theme in June) and the Spring Equinox (Which we will look at next month).

As such we are between the Insight that we have gained going deep within. The season of Winter taking us to the cave of our inner selves.

And the Inspiration we move into in the newness of Spring.

This is the space between the two.

We are at the door of the cave but can see out into the light.

Consolidating what we have gained in hibernation and preparing for the creative and exciting springtime.

What I love about the Sabbats is that they show us that what is happening in Nature is happening in Us.

As we tune into nature, we tune into ourselves and we begin to thrive like we never expected.

See the Spotlight Advice for some ideas of how to work with and empower this energy.

Astrology Buzz

The Sun has moved into Leo on the 23rd July to 22nd Aug we are just out of Mercury Retrograde and after the Eclipse season in need of some enthusiastic and fun Leonine energy to be sure.

Leo is ruled by the Sun, King like energy that comes from the heart.

Try to keep heart centred after the shake up from the eclipses your life will be shifting, subtly or in a big way.

If you listen to your heart, no matter the challenges it won’t lead you astray.

Then on the 23rd Aug to the 23rd Sep we may be relieved to enter Virgo.

She is the maiden energy that takes us into Spring and new beginnings.

Virgo is however also an Earth sign, which gives us the chance to consolidate the intellectual Gemini (air), emotional Cancer (water) and the intense Leo (fire).

New Moon in Leo is on July the 31st. We have a lot of planets in Leo over new moon, the Sun, Moon, Venus and Mars. Sun and Mars hold strong Masculine energy while Moon and Venus are Feminine. So, after the Cancer/Capricorn (mother/father) energy of the last month this new moon offers us a chance to listen to our hearts and find the new balance with our inner sacred masculine and feminine energies.

Then we have the Following New Moon on Aug the 30th in Virgo. This looks set to be a optimistic and earthy energy for seeing in the Spring.

Red Tent is an amazing practice to help with just that. Please enquire for more info if you feel called to.

Next Red Tent’s;

Full Moon is in the sign of Aquarius this month on the 15th. Sun and Moon are always at opposite sides of the heavens at full moon and the energy here is about tapping into our heart energy and from that place expanding into the world like a visionary. See how you can make the world a better place. And YES, little old YOU, CAN make a difference.

Crystal picks for August

Crysocolla is helpful this month because it is creative and vibrant.

Like his cousins Malachite, Azurite and Turquoise this stone has a high copper content.

This means it is a very detoxifying crystal.

As we begin to emerge from our cave, what is it that we need to release in order to create the life we choose.

Optic Calcite is symbolic of the light returning and the clarity that the light brings.

There is a time for day and a time for night, a time to go into the shadow and a time to come back to the light.

I love how this particular colour of Calcite is the only one to form naturally in this rhomboid shape.

Very often with Optic Calcite, which is also called Icelandic Spa, you will also get rainbows, like you can see in the one pictured here.

Orange Calcite is our second of the Calcite family to feature this month.

As a family they are a very special group, and come in an array of colours, so there is a specific coloured calcite for most of your needs.

They are a gentle yet fast acting family that also amplifies the effect of the other stones you are working with.

Orange is particularly good on a creative level and helps with our feelings and assisting is putting emotional boundaries in place.

2nd chakra things like relationships, finances, health and EQ (emotional intelligence).

Aromas of the month

The Chamomiles are both amazing and though I usually pick one at a time, this month I want to spotlight both, for their similarities and also their differences.

German Chamomile is a deep blue colour as it has a higher Azulene content than Roman Chamomile.

This azulene is what makes German Chamomile more anti inflammatory and invaluable for sore joints, muscles, skin conditions and more.

For me it is the herbier smelling of the chamomiles and has a thicker consistency. It also costs more.

Roman Chamomile is more of a floral scent, and though also has azulene, not enough to make it blue. It is in my mind the better choice for the emotional benefits of Chamomile, to calm and sooth, settling frayed nerves and heightened emotions.

Both Chamomiles are good for body but if I have to choose German is better for body.

Equally both Chamomiles are good for the mind and emotions, but if I had to choose Roman would get my vote here.

Both Chamomiles are a must have with Children and cover a huge array of parenting needs…happy child happy parents.

Fennel and Grapefruit will help to get the body moving and the lymph flowing as you get back to a more active phase of the year after hibernation.

Metaphorically of course as you will not have altogether stopped but a rejuvenation at this point of the year is very powerful.

Fennel will bring your digestive and urinary systems back into flow.

While Grapefruit is a real tonic for the mind, emotions, skin, lymph, digestion…well you get the idea.

Blend suggestions:

For a massage blend in 10ml Carrier oil - 3 drops Grapefruit, 2 German Chamomile and 1 drops Fennel

In a diffuser – 4 drops Roman Chamomile and 3 drops Grapefruit

Remember to write your blends in your blend book so you remember what you liked and what you didn’t.

Spotlight Advice

Imbolc Aug 2nd (in the Southern Hemisphere)

As this part of the newsletter is for those of you who want a bit more information and some action steps on how to use the energy that is abounding, I will explain Imbolc a little further.

It is often called Brigid’s Day as it is a day dedicated to the Celtic fire deity of home and hearth, fertility, childbirth and livestock.

In Christianity she is Saint Brigid and this holiday (from the words holy and day) it is more commonly called candle mass.

Imbolc is about protecting what you have.

It is a turning point in the seasons that symbolises leaving the dark and looking forward to new beginnings.

So, some suggestions on how to Celebrate on the 1st or 2nd of the month…hence me sending this a little early for you to prepare.

The 2nd is a Friday and close enough to the New Moon in Leo for it to be even more potent.

Action Steps

1) Get out in nature the best thing to do is to start to physically see the change in nature. As we connect to nature we begin to naturally (nature ally or ally with nature) align with the seasons and then we are more able to tune into what that means in our own bodies and lives. Working with flowers, walking in nature or planting seeds are all good ideas.

2) Make a Brigid’s cross this is something I want to do using pipe cleaners rather than the traditional reeds, with my children, while we talk about this Sabbat and what it symbolises.

You may want to use the colours of the fire goddess (red, orange and the pastel colours).

Or you may want to create a crystal grid using appropriate crystals (amethyst, fuchsite, aquamarine, turquoise, amazonite are more ideas) and even herbs such as Rosemary or Basil.

3) Spring Cleaning though not quite spring, it is time to make room for the new by clearing the old.

This can be done in our homes.

But also, meditation to spring clean the mind.

Or an energy healing to spring clean on many levels.

Enquire if you are needing a healing near or far as I do distance healings too.

4) Baking is my last suggestion, especially something with seeds, like a seed loaf or muffins.

This is symbolic, but also gives us a chance to bake with family and certainly to share with family as we count our blessings.
