Here we are in the second half of the year and face to face with the fourth sign of the zodiac.
If you need a reminder about how this new astrological archetype theme works, check out the last few newsletters in my blog.
The sign of Cancer the Moonchild is our theme this month.
Moonchild the Nurturer
Cancer is the fourth sign of the zodiac and is represented by the crab.
It is the first water sign and is the one that deals with personal feelings.
Scorpio, the second of the water signs, is about how and what emotions one chooses to express to others, while the third water sign, Pisces, is more about spiritual expression.
Cancer represents home, family, and community.
It focuses in on nurturing those needs in ourselves, our family, friends, and animals.
EQ also plays a big role when dealing with water signs in general.
As with all of the signs or archetypes, there is the light side and the challenging side.
Areas of challenge, or shadow traits, of Cancer are hoarding and clutter, and comfort eating, both of which are an attempt to compensate for overwhelming or unprocessed emotions.
Other areas to watch: moonchild can be overly responsible, co-dependent, smothering or miserly.
Harnessing Cancer the Moonchild…
The glyph for Cancer looks a bit like a sideways 69 and is representative of the crab’s pincers.
Crabs walk sideways, preferring not to come at things head-on.
Sometimes the longer and less straightforward way is not necessarily less effective.
It is time to look at what you are feeling right now, without judgement.
And to look at how you are dealing with the feeling.
I have my natal Mercury (mind) in Cancer, so this gives me poetic licence.
Begin the inner dialogue with yourself to nurture your own needs, to listen to the wisdom of your body, and to honour that your emotions are your internal guidance system.
Add to all of this that Mercury is retrograde in Cancer, and we have a great opportunity to re-evaluate how we are thinking and feeling, especially with regards to our home, our family and our roots.
Spotlight Advice
Growing with Moonchild
If you are resonating strongly with this archetype then here are a few suggestions to first, enhance the energy; second, to sedate the energy; and third, to enjoy the energy.
Let’s jump in.
Action Steps
1) Enhancing Cancer: Water signs love to use their emotions,
although sometimes they find them very overwhelming.
Having strong water energy means having good intuition because you can feel far more than just what is being said.
To enhance moonchild energy, connect with water by bathing, showering and drinking water, or even swimming.
While you’re in the water feel into your heart and notice what you feel.
Start by discerning what you are feeling so that you can begin to recognise when you are picking up on the feelings of others.
If you can’t differentiate between your feelings and other people’s, you risk taking on theirs to the point that they can make you sick.
You are then unable to support them because you didn’t know the feelings were theirs.
This is a great time to build your intuition by exploring your emotions.
2) Sedating Cancer: Unhappy water energy becomes overly emotional, depressed, and even sick.
Getting yourself grounded comes up again as a tool to calm and collect this month.
Play gentle, soothing music, watch feel-good rom coms, curl up in front of the fire and read a great book. Practice self-care to keep yourself centred.
3) Enjoying Cancer: This is a great time to make your house a home or rearrange the furniture.
Cancer energy loves to mother and nurture, so get into the kitchen and cook up a nourishing feast for your family.
Take time to devise a health protocol for each member of your family, or friends who need support.
I usually add my favourite tools (essential oils, crystals, tissue salts, vitamins, exercise, meditation, etc) to see where we are and what we each need.

I am holding a yoga class via Zoom on Monday at 10:30, Wednesday at 17:30 and Thursday at 8am.
Astrology Buzz
Cancer
June 22nd to July 22nd
marks the end of a two-year eclipse cycle of working with the axis of the signs Cancer and Capricorn.
This has been so big and, yes, there have been other reasons for the effect, but starting back in July 2018, a big shift between home life and work life has likely been in play for many of us.
As this cycle closes, take some time to see if you are happy with the balance you have, or are busy creating, in this area of your life.
Leo
July 23rd to August 22nd
sees the sun come out, metaphorically speaking.
Cancer is ruled by the moon and Leo is ruled by the sun.
This will bring with it a welcome relief from all the heavy emotions.
It will bring a burst of energy and enthusiasm.
There is, of course, much more to learn about Leo, and all of that will be covered in next month’s newsletter.
Full Moon is in Capricorn on the 5th, opposing the Sun in Cancer.
This ends this little eclipse season (our second of three this year) and it also ends the greater cycle of Cancer/Capricorn eclipses as we are already overlapping into the Gemini/Sagittarius axis I spoke about last month.
I have been tracking eclipse seasons and lessons for some years now, and I find it fascinating and empowering to work with them.
As the last in a long cycle of ecllipses, the Cancer/Capricorn asks us;
· How do I divide my time between home and work?
· Do I focus more on home and wonder why work never succeeds?
· Do I spend so much time in a job I hate and wonder why my home life is not how I want it to be?
· Do I run my home like a business or do I smother my colleagues?
See what comes up for you, and whatever it is, it offers you the opportunity to work towards better balance in this realm.
Please remember I am a guide from the side, you are the sage on your stage.
It is up to you to feel what resonates, and remember there are many different ways this lesson may manifest for you other than the ones I have mentioned.
New Moon: June Dark Moon was in Cancer on the 21st which was an eclipse.
July New Moon on the 20th will also be in Cancer, so we will have a double lunar cycle of dealing with all the lessons of Moonchild as we find the perfect balance of this Cancer/Capricorn axis, or at the very least, finally accept what is not working so we know how to move forward in a new and better way.
There are 13 moon cycles each year so only one sign will, on occasion, have a second season.
This is a gift to really get into the flow of the lesson of that particular archetype.
Red Tent is an ancient lunar practice that helps us use the moon’s rhythms to create harmony, balance, and overall wellbeing in our lives.
It is a truly magical and gentle cumulative practice that I wish for every woman.
It is a space where we can teach moon manifestation and so much more.
We can support you anywhere in the world, so get in touch if you resonate.

Moonchild Theme
Moonstone is the perfect stone to work with when moonchild (cancer) is in play.
Cancer is the sign ruled by the moon and this stone has very strong connections to the moon.
Moonstone links to our lunar cycles and rhythms, including hormonal and emotional rhythms.
It is opalescent like the moon and very reflective.
I find it very intense and can’t wear moonstone jewellery for long without all number of physical and emotional reactions triggering.
My advice is to use it mindfully and in small doses.
Don’t wear it all the time.
Rather wear it while you journal, or just for the day and take it off at night. Or wear it at night and take it off during the day.
Ruby is one of the birthstone options for Cancer.
It has a beautiful rich ruby-red colour.
This is a precious gem however, so unless you have ruby jewellery it will be hard to work with.
Ruby supports love and loyalty, passion, and good fortune.
Garnet is a good alternative to ruby.
They are similar in colour and energy.
Both will help to connect to self-care, abundance, and passion and are good for grounding.
Garnet also links to strength and safety.
Aromas of the month
Clary Calm is wonderful doTERRA blend which is a mixture of loads of glorious oils: clary sage; lavender; bergamot; roman chamomile; ylang ylang; cedarwood; geranium; fennel; carrot; and palmarosa.
This is my go-to oil during PMS week.
It is also great for general hormone balancing, menstrual issues, perimenopause, hot flashes, mood swings, sex drive, skin issues, and as a calmer in most situations. In short, to settle the emotional Cancerian issues.
Lemon, on the other hand, will lift the soporific nature of Cancer and bring brightness; lightening the mood and inspiring a zest for life.
Lemon also boosts digestion, sharpens memory, and tastes amazing in your water with the added vitamin C benefits.
(doTERRA oils are safe to injest)
Just a note that although Clary Calm is a specific doTERRA blend, you can use other brands of Lemon, or even another citrus oil as a substitute.
Always get the best quality essential oil that you can afford. Be careful of synthetic fragrance oils.
Only doTERRA with its CPTG (Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade) should be taken internally.
Follow this link to see how doTERRA is different from other essential oils:
Uses and blend suggestions:
Calm those emotions: simply roll some doTERRA Clary Calm (it comes in a roller) onto your wrists and behind your ears.
Cheer Up: add 1 drop of doTERRA Lemon to your water or diffuse lemon in your home to brighten your mood.
How fast do essential oils work?
· It takes 22 seconds for the molecules to reach the brain
· After 2 minutes, essential oils will be found in the bloodstream
· After 20 minutes essential oils will affect every cell in the body
