Rainbow Wisdom Newsletter May 2019

Hello and a happy May to you.

I thought it best to use this month for us to pause, breathe and earth.

The theme;

Get into your Body

is about just that. By now most of us have heard of the terms to ‘get grounded’ or ‘earthed’. Far from the New Age (yes, I love new age but for those who don’t think it holds weight) terms they used to be there is much science to back up these principles.

The earth is charged with negative ions and the atmosphere with positive ions. Like the two polarities of a battery.

Our bodies are like batteries and we need both polarities. Just like electrical wires need to be earthed for safety purposes, so too our bodies need to be earthed to stay healthy.

Since the invention of the rubber sole on shoes many of us never have our bare feet on the natural surface of the earth…to our detriment.

As we were dealing with somewhat out of body topics like passed ancestors, this month with the assist of the Taurus energy, I will give some guidance on how to get back into our bodies.

This is very much for our physical health and wellness, but it also will embody the lessons of the last few months.

See the Spotlight Advice at the bottom of the newsletter for these helpful tips.

Astrology Buzz

The Sun moved into Taurus on the 20th of April till the 21st of May.

It is this Taurean energy that I am hoping we will all harness this month as we work to embody all that this year has so far presented.

I don’t know about you, but it has whizzed by so fast its hard to believe a third of the year has gone.

It is a good idea for us to stop and consolidate a bit at this point. Taurus is represented by the bull who like all Earth signs like to do things slow and steady.

It is important to use this energy to finish off things that you have started. The whole year has a theme of beginnings and endings in many areas. Aries, which has just passed and Gemini (May 22 – June 21) which we move into next are more about starting than finishing.

As we move into the Gemini part of the month feel our minds speed up and begin itching to start new projects again.

Mars will be in Gemini till the 15th of May. Try to think before you speak rather than being reactive.

New Moon is in Taurus. May the 4th be with you (lol, little Star Wars joke). Seriously though, the force we can really connect with on May 4th for new moon is the force of nature, Mother Earth. Which brings us back to our theme. As we usually set intentions at new moon this would be an ideal month to do that outdoors and to set not only your intention but set one for Mother Earth too. How can you be part of the change for our beautiful planet?

Next Red Tent’s;

MAY

Thu 2nd Port Alfred 1.30-4.30

Mon 6th: Grahamstown 1.30-4.30pm

Tue 7th: Port Alfred 7-10pm

If you are interested or know of anyone who is, we still have space in the Grahamstown group and the new Port Alfred afternoon group.

Full Moon is in the sign of Scorpio this month on the 18th. This is a time where our need for metaphorical deaths (endings) is highlighted by the full moon. This is in order for us to transform what is not working in our lives into something new (beginnings). As always, the full moon phase may be loved or feared, either way it will be intense. When we start to follow the cyclical nature of the moon the first two places, we begin to focus are Full and New moon.

Crystal picks for May

I love the Agate family and they have such a strong connection to Gia, so here are a few awsome Agate options to get into your body this month. Agate is also for the most part reasonably priced and easily obtained.

Moss Agate often called the midwife’s stone. Not only can it help you connect to the green and growing earth, but like a midwife it can birth you into your body so you can experience all that life has to offer you.

Tree Agate is a little slower acting and maybe gentler in the process of grounding you. In the picture to the left you can see the difference between tree agate on the left and moss agate on the right. More light comes through the moss (faster acting) where the tree is more solid in colour (slow and steady).

Botswana Agate located in Botswana is one of those fail-safe stones to have in your collection. It has the tell-tale banding known to many agates. In this banding it shows how the stone developed, in layers, patiently and progressively. This is also how it works on us. Invaluable for grounding and steady development.

These are by no means the only agates, Blue Lace Agate, Fire Agate, Crazy Lace Agate to name just a few others are all beautiful and fascinating.

When we learn about a family of crystals, though each has their own meaning they also have a family connection. Crystal Workshop in May see below

Aromas of the month

Rose Geranium has a gentle floral aroma which immediately calms our emotions and is beneficial for balancing our hormones as a result. It is a middle note and very good for balance in general, but its primary action is on our emotions. It is hard to get into our bodies when our emotions are all over the place. This gem of an oil is invaluable and can also be used as a spritz in the home to help calm your pets, children and even the household energy. Better still in combinations with my other pics for May.

Patchouli has become an old faithful in my collection. One whiff and I am earthed. Yet every time I blend with patchouli, I am surprised at how it intensifies and alters the concoction into a musky, earthy magic. The old favourite musk was in fact made from whale fat, a No No for me. But the closest I can get to that with essential oils has been, patchouli with rose geranium and chamomile.

Lemongrass has a bright and uplifting fragrance. It is quite intense and certainly clears away the cobwebs from our aura. The sharpness helps to bring us into our bodies, and it is a great germ buster which never goes amiss this time of year.

A blend idea would be: 3 drops Rose Geranium, 2 Lemongrass and 1 Patchouli Remember to write your blends in your blend book so you remember what you liked and what you didn’t.

Spotlight Advice

Get into your Body

Here are some useful and practical tips to live a more grounded and connected life. This is not just for the month of April but each and every day.

The benefits are improved health, more stable emotions, a feeling of safety and security that will make dealing with life’s challenges so much easier.

1 Put your naked soles on the earth every day if possible or as often as you are able. I can’t stress enough how much difference this very easy exercise can make to your wellbeing. It is free, all you need is a little patch of sand, grass or rock. This is particularly helpful when you are feeling scattered and overwhelmed.

2 Feel into your roots another free and effective method to help stabilise and ground. Close your eyes take 3 – 5 deep breaths and imagine roots moving down from your feet, and the base of your spine, deep into the earth. Feel them deepening and widening into the earth. Giving you a really secure and stable root structure.

3 Do a grounding meditation there are so many ways of doing this and you can do it with a guided meditation or on your own. Tree imagery and rooting is always good. Connecting to your senses always gets you into your body. An element or seasonal meditation is also useful. As we connect to the cycles of nature and the natural elements, we connect to the body of Mother Earth and to our own bodies too.
