Happy September rainbow tribe, and for starters, this month ushers in the new season and our third and final Mercury retrograde.
Our theme this month is a fascinating one in my opinion and sees us diverging a little from our planetary explorations.
Before we dive into this month’s theme, here is the link to my website which has the posts on the personal planets which we have covered thus far.
The sun and moon are not exactly planets but astrologically we look at them that way.
In the last 5 months we have discussed what are known as the personal planets, the ones linked to our personality.
Sun – our brightest most authentic self
Moon – our moods, needs and EQ
Mercury – how we think, the stories we tell
Venus – what we value, how we love and how we want to be loved
Mars – how we get what we want, take action
The outer planets are very important and have not been forgotten, but as is my way, I choose the planet of focus with great intention each month and this month we are focusing not on a planet but on a little chap called Chiron.
In astronomy he has a classification as both a comet and an asteroid, and on first being discovered orbiting between Saturn and Uranus in 1977 he was even for a short while thought to be a dwarf planet.
Even this debate in his classification gives us a hint to his astrological energy.
Chiron
The myth of Chiron goes a little something like this. Chiron was born to Philyra a nymph and Cronos/Saturn the Titan.
They had both shapeshifted into horse form when Chiron was conceived.
His mother was horrified when he was born, thinking herself as the mother of a monster, as he was born a centaur, half man, half horse.
She abandoned him.
He was found by a shepherd who then took him to Apollo who fostered and mentored him, with the help of his sister Artemis.
He was taught survival, healing, prophecy, music and the appropriate initiation rights for a young hero. He was after all a demigod.
Now in general the centaurs were a riotous bunch.
Too wild for the humans and too human for the animals, they were not accepted by either.
Chiron was seen as more civilized than the others and was respected as a healer.
In an incident where a group of riotous centaurs (not descended of gods) were rampaging, stealing, raping etc, and in one of these fights, Chiron was accidently injured when one of Hercules’ arrows caught him in the thigh.
Because the arrow was poisoned, he could not heal his own wound but as a demigod he was immortal and could not die.
He became a healer of others, enduring great pain and suffering from his own unhealable wound all the while.
After 900 odd years he traded places with another immortal, Prometheus (who Zeus punished by tying him to a rock to endure having his liver pecked at each day by an eagle, for stealing fire from the god’s and giving it to man, another long story) and was able to die…or rather, to be immortalized in the sky by Zeus.
Harnessing Chiron…
In astrology, Chiron is most known as the wounded healer.
And though both astronomical classifications for asteroid and comet are active, in astrology Chiron is most often looked at as one of the centaurs.
Asteroids orbit in the Astro belt, between Mars and Jupiter.
Where the centaurs occupy the zone between Jupiter and Pluto, which includes the outer edges of the visible planets and those that cannot be seen with the naked eye.
They travel between the visible and invisible worlds…the obvious and the inner/spirit/subtle or unseen worlds.
Archetypally this shows us of the need to go inward to the depth of our shadows and bring them into the light to transform and heal.
And that much of our healing is happening behind the scenes.
We see this in another way when we consider Chiron is part human (intellectual) and part animal (instinctual).
Not either or, but both.
This is a huge shift in consciousness for us collectively to realize there are other ways to our ways, not better or worse, just different.
Like Chiron, our wounds may never heal, but that does not mean we need to inflict wounds on others.
Rather we may choose to learn from the wounds and set about in service of others, giving ourselves a sense of purpose.
So, one may say because I have experienced (abandonment, sexism, racism, abuse etc,) I can support others in this.
Which brings me to the main reason I chose Chiron for Virgo season.
Chiron is sometimes looked at as being co ruler of Virgo, with Mercury.
Virgo is known to be service oriented and is associated with natural/alternative healing. And linked to pets too, for the animal half of Chiron’s energy.
There is also a belief that Chiron rules over the sign of Sagittarius, himself a centaur and philosopher.
Or Scorpio who is the ultimate in transformation and rebirth, or even Libra.
I am liking the idea that it is the process of working through all these signs.
Becoming aware of the wound in Virgo, where we begin the healing journey.
Moving into Libra we seek the advice of another to bring greater balance to our healing.
In Scorpio we undergo the painful death and rebirth process.
As we integrate in Sagittarius the journey that has left us older, wiser, more philosophical, and ready to impart our wisdom onto others.
WISDOM IS EMBODIED KNOWLEDGE; people can’t take wisdom away from you.
In the Chiron journey the learning often comes through the pain, the wound, pathogen, toxin…how much of it can we take to the point of healing vs the point of poisoning.
Spotlight Advice
Tuning in with Chiron
If you are resonating strongly with this Archetype, then I am going to give you a few suggestions.
Just to mention, these action steps are for the brave, if it seems too much, trust that.
This work is very rewarding, but it is also filled with challenge.
A need to strip oneself bare and learn to accept all of you.
If on the other hand you are ready to delve into the wound to understand how it has informed your life’s narrative and to recognize what you can heal because of your suffering, then here is how to get started.
It is also extremely helpful to have a guide or mentor when doing shadow work.
This month I am offering a short support to tell you your Chiron sign, placement, and strong aspects for R150.
Action Steps
1) Uncover the Wound: know your Chiron sign at the least, house and aspects would help too. Then rip off the bandage.
TD Jakes: Healing the wounds of the past
“my mother would take the Band Aid off, clean the wound and say, “ things that are covered ,don’t heal well,”
A quote that says it brilliantly.
It needs to be opened up to avoid sepsis.
Your understanding of this wound will yield much magic.
See my short support offering this month.
2) Radical Acceptance: The wound cannot be undone, the trauma cannot be unlived.
You would never be who you are now without the most difficult experiences of your life.
Flip the script and change your perspective.
Stop wishing you never experienced these things and begin to find a deep gratitude for how they have enriched you.
2) Surrender to your purpose: If you are not already using your wound to help others, now is time to start.
This is part of your souls promise.
You need to do your own work first but then you need to be of service.
Here are a few examples;
your parents divorced (original wound), your divorce (re wounding) then acts as a catalyst to you becoming a marriage counsellor.
You were assaulted and kept it a secret for years, a close friend is then assaulted, and you find the courage to share your story to help support and heal your friend and yourself.
Releasing your shame, you become open about it and allow others to release their shame in the process.
You always had a strong connection to animals and remember any animal abuse feeling physically painful for you as a child.
You accidently run over an animal as an adult and remember how you feel about animals and have a desire to adopt a pet and devote yourself to giving it a loving home.
Or commit to a small donation to animal welfare each month.
We do not all have to devote ourselves to service in an overt way, but there does need to be some form of giving back on whatever way works for you on your journey.

Astrology Buzz
Virgo Aug 23rd to Sep 22nd I certainly hope your inner critic is not taking over. Virgo can be super critical and pedantic.
It is a great time to use this energy to discern what you don’t want as a process of elimination to figuring out what it is that you do want.
Then remember that even though this is a very service-oriented sign you cannot be of service to anyone if you do not fill your own cup first.
A great season to put into practice some self-care and other good daily habits to keep your health up so that you can help others.
Libra Sep 23rd to Oct 22nd from the critic to the judge.
Drop the self-judgment, stop judging others and just find your own axis. Balance is not something that stays static.
We are constantly needing to rebalance, that is life so stop fighting it.
Libra is also a sign that really wants to work in relationship so don’t try to do everything alone, co-operate, collaborate, co-facilitate, co-create…you’ve got this.
New Moon: September New Moon is on the 7th in the sign of Virgo.

Full Moon
September full moon is in the last degrees of Pisces on the 20th opposing the Sun in Virgo.
These are both mutable signs, which means we are more open to shifting with the season, more able to be flexible.
Virgo is ‘the devils in the details’, where Pisces can daydream the day away.
Here are some questions to reflect on that energy.
Physically look to support the digestion, nervous and immune systems, feet and toes.
Questions you may ask yourself in Virgo/Pisces.
What fun, creative activity can I commit to do daily for the next 28 days (next full moon) that tends to the health of my body and my intuition?
If you are Virgo dominant – How can I tap into my creativity (draw, dance, sing, play music) to still the inner critic?
If you are Pisces dominant – How can I make my dreams a reality with some practical daily habits? (exercise, journaling, healthy diet)
If even one of these triggers you on some level, take the time to think about it, journal or meditate on it.
Use these tools mindfully and if you need extra support and guidance, I am available for consultations.

Crystal picks for September
Chiron Theme
Smokey Quartz is another of those crystals you will find a lot of in my home. The reason I like it when working with Chiron is that it is a very grounding and nurturing stone.
The point of working on the Chiron wound is to be learning big soul lessons through one’s experiences in our physical body.
Smokey quartz helps to anchor us in our body, in a clear and supportive way. I use Smokies to seal the aura in my healing work and to create the safe and held container for my client.
Both Smokey quartz and our next pick Amethyst are part of the Quartz family and as a family share the characteristics of being strong (hard on the Mohs hardness scale) and clarifying.
Amethyst is one of the most commonly known and used crystal, and for good reason. Not only is it easily available and affordable, it is a very calming crystal which helps us to sleep, which is also where we process and heal.
That aside, I chose it because of it’s work with our addictive nature.
When it comes to our pain, we almost always try to numb.
If it is taking a anti-inflammatory for a headache, a drink to take the edge off a long day or a sleeping pill to quiet the mind.
The more we do this with physical, emotional, mental or spiritual pain, rather than feeling into the pain and its origin, the more we need to.
And soon enough 1 anti-inflammatory turns to a prescription drug problem.
A drink or two in the evening into alcoholism, the odd sleeping pill into a handful for a more ‘permanent’ peace.
Yes, this is a little dramatic, but it is also true.
Our chosen trajectory if we do not deal with our wound.
Amethyst is very helpful with our addictive nature.
Jade oh, gentle and compassionate healer. Jade is soft and nurturing.
For me Jade is inextricably linked to the goddess Kuan Yin who embodies the energy of compassion and grace.
Jade helps us release the self-judgement – So today I need to numb my pain, I am doing it consciously I know I need a respite, but tomorrow I will try to be present in what the pain is wanting me to see, feel and understand.
Be the human you are, it is all about progress, not perfection.
Perfection is an illusion as soon as you think you have grasped it, like a puff of smoke it is gone, and you are back to searching.
Rather than searching outside of yourself for perfection and societies expectations of how you should be perfect, go within, find your self-love and self-care, be kind, let yourself heal.
I am giving a talk on the Healing Power of Crystals at the Wellness Weekend in Bathurst 24-26 September, see the link below for more info.
Aromas of the month
Helichrysum and Copaiba are my pics for Chiron.
Helichrysum is referred to as natures stitches and is actually the most expensive oil available.
I chose it for Chiron because it is such a powerful healer and has a well-known association with the skin.
Physically helping to heal a wound and knit the skin but from an emotional level this is true too.
Helichrysum takes us from emotionally wounded to released…I think I will make a roller for myself immediately.
In the process of writing about Chiron there have been some triggering life experiences for me with my own wounding and I will share my personal roller recipe below.
Helichrysum is also useful for shock, alcohol addiction, heavy metal toxicity and tinnitus as well as scares, wounds and bruising…physically and emotionally.
Copaiba is a part of my daily health ritual, as I take it every morning internally for inflammation, and cellular repair.
Disclaimer, only certain oils of the highest quality such as doTERRA oil can be taken internally.
Yes, another great wound oil in all senses of the wound.
Copaiba also supports a host of physical ailments that often stem directly from the emotional.
Such as digestive issues, skin conditions, anxiety and sleep problems to name a few.
It is a gently grounding oil, anchoring us in our little boats as we ride the rough seas of our emotional wounds.
Helping us get gritty as we break the old pattern.
This great quote by Heather Thomson Day really fits the theme.
“There’s a difference between a person who hurts you by making a mistake and a person who hurts you by continuing a pattern.
Mistakes can be forgiven. Patterns should be broken.”
Uses and Blend suggestions:
Wounded Healer support roller - 3 drops Helichrysum, 2 drops Spearmint, 4 drops Black Spruce and 5 drops Bergamot, top with carrier oil.
This beautiful healing blend helps to curb the craving to continue our pattern…whatever that is for each of us.
As always, a little used often is the best way to get results with your oils.
Pure Calm – Option for diffusing and or a (roller).
2 (5) drops Helichrysum, 3 (7) drops Laurel Leaf and 3 (7) drops Copaiba. (Roller – top with carrier oil)
A great blend to calm and heal, helping you to breathe through the process.
Note: How Fast do Essential oils work?
It takes 22 seconds for the molecules to reach the brain.
In 2 minutes, Essential oils will be found in the bloodstream.
By 20 minutes they will affect every cell in the body
