What might this new adventure hold

Happy Chinese New Year.

On the 10th of Feb we enter the year of the Wood Dragon.

Salvador Dali was a wood dragon, his art has always fascinated me, going to a museum in London dedicated to his art is how I celebrated my 21st birthday.

The Chinese zodiac is based around the Chinese lunar calendar and falls on the New Moon.

As a moon lover with a name that means moon, I love this connection.

But this is not about me.

Dragon is the only one of the 12 animals in the Chinese zodiacal wheel that is a mythical creature

In Chinese astrology there are 12 signs and 5 elements, the whole cycle is a 60-year cycle from wood dragon to wood dragon.

Dragon qualities are similar to Aries in western astrology.

Dragons are; magnanimous, powerful, leaders, full of vitality, fiery temper, stubborn, overbearing, loyal, courageous and successful.

The Wood Dragon is less severe but still mighty, so what will the energy bring for us?

We can expect a practical and productive intensity from this year.

Where we are able to harness wood dragon energy to boldly build our New Earth. We may be more self-disciplined, and not as afraid as we may usually be to make decisions and take action.

Since starting my newsletters in 2017, I have never missed a month until this January.

So, this is my first newsletter of the year and I thought a brief look at some of the big themes may be a good idea.

Looking through some different lenses and you get to see which resonate for you.

(especially pertaining to your personal year number)

1 – a year for initiating things, uniqueness, independence and individuality. Caution is needed with selfishness and aggression. 1 leads, but be a leader others will follow with respect, not fear.

2 – a year for co-operation with others, listening, may be hypersensitive or moody. Maintain your boundaries as this is a very caring supporting energy and if you overextend you can’t help others.

3 – if you are in a 3 personal and collective this energy is doubled. Self-expressive creative year like I already mentioned. Watch not to lose focus, planning and prioritizing are not 3 traits.

4 – is a year of dedicated work, practical, organized and determined forward movement. It may be hard in a 4 year to go with the flow, or to think outside the box.

5 – if you are in a 5 year it is time for freedom and adventure. A year of networking, social expansion and communication. Try to be patient with those who are not as expansive as you and watch yourself for commitment issues.

6 – you are in a responsible caregiving role this year. You may struggle to say no and may want to give more than you receive. It will be a good year to bring family or work colleagues together, healing old hurts.

7 – Big spiritual growth year for you, 7 is the number of the contemplative truth seeker. Try to be open minded, patient and tolerant as the way you see

the world is likely to be shifted this year.

8 – the number of the business minded leader. It is a lucky number and a powerful number to bring about abundance and prosperity. Don’t forget to balance the material (8) and the spiritual (7) in your life.

9 – Service oriented this year you will do well taking up some compassionate humanitarian type project. You will feel generous and have a great desire to leave the world better than you found it. Be mindful of forgiveness this cycle.

Tarot Archetype

Based on the numerology of the year, we can look at the 8th card in the major arcana to see what archetypal energy is at play for us all this year.

The 8th card of the major arcana is the Strength card.

This is a card that links to the zodiacal sign of Leo.

Traditionally it shows and image of a young maiden putting her hand in the mouth of a lion.

I have really been feeling into this card in the last while. It has been a favorite of mine for years, but here are some of my current musings.

The maiden is young, innocent, vulnerable and naive, yet she shows great strength and courage to ‘tame the lion’

The lion is hard wired to eat a vulnerable maiden, he is a strong predator, who needs to find great self-control and gentleness in order to enjoy his time with the maiden and the strength to tame his base nature.

She needs to face her fear and not cower like a wall flower, rather to boss up and take the stage, lead the show.

He needs to accesses his inner kitten. Less is more for him if he finds the strength to be meek, he gets her love and affection, choosing to soften.

This year, watch where life gives you opportunities to step into both of these roles.

Notice which comes more easily to you and which muscles need strengthening.

Astrology Buzz

On Jan 22nd Pluto shifted back into Aquarius where he is going to spend the next 20 years.

We had a tiny sneak peak of this energy last year (Mar 24th – June 11th 2023) look back to big themes in your life around then…they may be hints as to your current trajectory.

This is a BIG DEAL, Pluto may be small, but his action is mighty.

His process it transformation, usually it brings up power dynamics and shows us where toxicity and dysfunction lie.

Look at where Aquarius is in your chart, to get a gauge as to the area of your life that will be most affected.

Any planet that enters Aquarius right now, moves straight into a conjunction with Pluto.

Sun and Pluto entered Aquarius together and within a few short weeks all of the personal planets are being initiated into Pluto’s 20-year journey in this sign.

Mercury enters Feb 6th, Moon on the 9th, Mars the 14th and Venus the 17th…we are going to feel Pluto for sure.

Aquarius Jan 21st to Feb 18th

it is a much more potent and intense Aquarius season that we are used to.

It will also be the 1st of 20 such seasons, so pay attention at this first one if you want to get an early map of your way forward.

Pisces Feb 19th to Mar 20th

it was last Pisces season that the strong and disciplined Saturn began his tenure in this sign.

How has that been going for you?

He passes the first decan (10° of 30°) and will not be going back.

This is good for those with planets or points in the 1st decan of Pisces or the other mutable signs (Gemini, Virgo and Sagittarius)

Lunations for Feb

Aquarius New Moon is on the 10th of February.

Full Moon is in Virgo on the 24th opposing the Sun in Pisces.

Here is a quick reference list of the big things over the year.

Chiron conjunct the North Node in Aries, impacts most acutely in March.

This is a big heal yourself to heal the world kind of energy. Take responsibility for your feeling, needs, actions and choices.

Jupiter conjunct Uranus in Taurus

goes exact this year in April.

It only happens every 14 years.

It is a luckier and more dynamic combo…sudden discoveries and then making these new ways real.

Jupiter enters Gemini in May; this is really expansive and exciting for us Gemini’s. We only have Jupiter travel through our sign every 12 years and it can be a real glow up, up levelling or expanding time for us.

Saturn conjunct Neptune in Pisces by mid-year we are really experiencing the Reality vs Illusion. It sets the tone for a big theme around this all of 2025.

Fake news is an example of this theme.

Mars Retrograde in Leo/Cancer Dec 2024 through to Feb 2025 these are usually fairly challenging, forcing us to look at the way we (individually and collectively) do things that does not work. Mars will have 3 oppositions with Pluto during this retrograde. Remember to look at their conversation now as they meet up because there will be a similar tone to the opposition point (perhaps a little more, hot headed at the opposition).
